I feel privileged to have known Barbara. A super smart, informed, interested and interesting woman who always tried to see the best in people and life generally.
We initially met in the early 90s; and enjoyed a memorable Easter with Barbara and Chris in their lovely house overlooking Carbis Bay. She made Easter such fun.
Then there were several jaunts to Branscombe in Devon when we all stayed in the lodges overlooking the ocean; a very special place.
I remember one new year in particular, in 2005, when I visited her for support during a difficult personal trauma. She involved me in her life and made me feel so welcomed and loved.
Barbara was always so supportive of others; and would give her last penny away if it would help. An involved and super grandmother to Harriet and Lucinda; and other young folk across her extensive family.
Her sense of fun and involving herself with her local community, particularly the church, gave a great sense of purpose and focus to her life. Her personal sense of style suited her so well; bold colours of clothes, accessories and her hair!
Barbara had not enjoyed good health for a while and had experienced personal loss on too many occasions; but always tried to make the best of it, whatever ailed her; keeping in touch with her wide array of family and friends.
The move from Hayle to Camborne, to live closer to Kirsten, David and the girls was not taken lightly. The girls got to enjoy an even closer relationship to their grandma which will be forever treasured.
Barbara will be missed by all those she touched; the heart of her church community, respected and liked by all who knew her from her nursing days and the various groups she was involved with; and not least of all her family.
May you be out of pain now dear Barbara and reconnected with your beloved husband, your brother and other close relatives. The privilege has been all mine.
